At Geist Christian Church we believe that all children are special in God’s eyes. Our Nursery, FaithQuest education classes, fellowship groups and music programs reinforce the fact that each child has unique gifts of great value.

The council strives to educate children through Biblical teaching and role modeling for lifelong learning. The Council on Children’s Ministries is made up of parents of children in the various programs of Geist Christian Church. Julie Michna is chairperson with Marianne Carter vice-chairperson. All parents are encouraged to participate. Meetings are the first Monday of each month, 6-7 p.m.

 

NURSERY

Our youngest children are lovingly cared for by a coordinator, staff and volunteers. Sarah Dietrich, a mother with early childhood experience, provides oversight of the nursery that is always available during all worship services as well as other church-wide events. Sarah and her staff provide a consistent transition as children become familiar with their loving faces.

 

Fun-filled workshops will be held in self-contained classrooms with workshop boxes rotating each week to the different age groups. The boxes are filled with age appropriate activities from games, video, art, cooking, science, and storytelling to teach faith stories to our preschool age children.

 

FaithQuest education program features different, fun-filled workshop settings. Each week children visit a new destination in their FaithQuest. The goal is to help students learn a faith story from six different perspectives using experiential learning techniques. The hands-on workshops emphasize multi-dimensional learning and creative

ways to teach biblical concepts.

FaithQuest meets during all three Worship Services.

            Saturday — 5:30 p.m.

            Sunday — 9:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.

Workshops offered include Bible Mania (games), GCTV Live (video), Solid Rock Café (cooking), Holyword Stories (storytelling), Creation Station (art), Investigation Station (science)

 

Geist Kids provides fellowship, service and family activities for kindergarten through second graders. A light meal is served on the first and third Sundays of each month, September through May from 5 – 7:00 p.m.

 

Junior Youth Fellowship (JYF) provides fellowship, service and family activities for third through fifth graders. A light meal is served on the first and third Sundays of each month, September through May from 5 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

 

 

Our Music Director, David Duncan and assistants provide a rich experience for children age fourth through fifth grade, both in learning age appropriate Christian songs and music and performing during worship services and special family concerts. Rehearsals normally are on Monday evenings, September through May.

 

Genesis Choir — Age 4 – 1st grade

SonShine Singers — Grades 2 – 5

Rehearsals held Mondays, 6:00 – 6:45 p.m.

 

SonShine Ringers — Grades 2 – 5

Rehearsals held Mondays, 6:45 – 7:30 p.m.

 

 

Come kick off the Holiday Season with a Holiday Wonderland for children. Enjoy Breakfast with Santa, Christmas crafts, Read with a Pastor and games. Scheduled usually the first Saturday morning of December.

 

An annual event for children ages two through fifth featuring breakfast, games, crafts, a visit with the Easter Bunny, and story time with one of our pastors.

 

Both a morning and evening session are offered. The week concludes with worship and a family picnic. Pre-registration begins May 1.
