In 2008 Geist Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) begins a new chapter in its remarkable history. A second site that provides many, many new opportunities in ministry will be built and filled with worship, education, fellowship and activities we could not do in our current buildings. Many of these new activities will be for children, youth, and families.
As you consider your financial committments for 2008, you are invited to reflect on your personal priorities and to reasses the importance of helping tell the extravagantly generous act of God in Jesus Christ through this community of faith.
Our Ministry For 2008
Geist Christian Church will have an exciting, eventful year in 2008!- We will complete the initial construction of our second site on Promise Road and begin new ministries in that location.
- We will see a significant expansion of our ministry with children and youth and welcome many new families into the fellowship of this congregation.
- We will complete the remodeling of the sanctuary that includes the expansion of the choir loft.
In addition to this expansion of ministry, your financial commitment in 2008:
- Supports a staff of ten full-time and nine part-time persons
- Maintains a current building of 45,000 square feet and a future building of an additional 26,000 square feet.
- Communicates and maintains relationships with more than 2,500 adults and children
- Nurtures, supports, and educates an average of 300 children and youth each week
- Maintains our current mortgage payments and expanded indebtedness on the new education area
- Supports regional and international mission work of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Your commitment card should be returned to the Financial Secretary in the church office by November 4 or you may call Elena Derbique at 558-2863, ext 13. You may place your card in the Saturday and sunday worship offerings between October 27 and November 4. You may also pledge online by going to the website:

We welcome weekly, monthly or annual payments. You may make your gifts in the offering, direct deposit, credit card or debited directly from your bank account, or check by phone. You may also make gifts of appreciated securities.

5. What does my 2008 pledge cover?
Your 2008 pledge provides for the ministry of the church including: education, worship, music youth ministry, and evangelism. It also covers, staff salaries, building maintenance and upkeep and mortgage payments. After the completion of our new building on Promise Road, your pledge will also support the utilities and maintenance of that property.

6. I made a pledge to Connecting Promises. What are the differences between what my Connecting Promises pledge supports and what 2008 pledge for current operation supports?
Connecting Promises expands our sanctuary, builds the north campus and partially supports mortgage payments for three years. the general fund covers about 20% of mortgage payments not underwritten by Connecting Promises.

7, What if my financial situation changes during the year?
If your family finances change - lowered or raised - simply contact the financial secretary, Elena Derbique, and ask her to adjust your pledge.
