Three “Survivor ‘08” sermons, available for reading at www.geistchristain.org, have prepared the congregation for making commitments for 2009. Each offers insight on why we save, share and serve. Gifts of time (see page 6) as well as financial support are needed.

2009 is the first full year of being one church in two locations. It promises to be a significant one. Both campuses are seeing new people because of the opening of a second campus. Ministry with children and youth has expanded. There is new interest in small groups, connecting adults to the Bible and to one another.

Financial pledges to the General Fund will

• Support five worship services at two campuses
• Nurture, support and educate an average of 250 children and 100 youth each week
• Support a staff of 10 full-time persons and eight part-time persons
• Maintain north and south buildings, a combined 68,000 square feet
• Support regional and international mission work of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

“Our hope is to have all pledges in hand by the second weekend of November,” said business manager Phil Manship. “This year, more than any other, we need to know exactly where we are.”
