November welcomes a new sermon series to be tackled at ALTARed, a weekly youth worship experience at our south campus on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Come out to experience who we are as Disciples of Christ as this new series, “At the Core,” shares who we have been as a denomination and who we are called to be moving forward.
This challenging series will be fun and informative, and will encourage our youth to help shape our witness as a church in the days, years and decades to come.
Search & Rescue, an annual outreach favorite of collecting supplies for food pantries, is set for Sunday afternoon, November 23. Come for ALTARed that morning at the south campus, stay after for pizza, and then break into groups to join in the scavenger hunt that collects non-perishable goods.
This event will take the place of our normal youth group experience that day. Many adult drivers are needed to help maneuver our youth through the surrounding neighborhoods. The Geist Christian Church Pumpkin Patch on the south campus this season welcomed many from the community who strolled through the 2,000 pumpkins and took photographs 
of their kids and grandkids. Many pumpkins left the property in the arms of generous customers. Their purchases will benefit our youth mission trips planned for next summer.
Our high school group is heading to Puerto Rico — July 10-20, 2009. The proceeds from The Patch are planting mission seeds in the lives of our youth and in the lives of the those they will serve. Our middle school trip destination is currently in formation.
