Join us for the Geist Christian Church Women’s Fall Retreat, a day created for connection, encouragement, reflection, and renewed faith. Together, we’ll explore what it means to trust God through every season and remember that His presence remains steady even when life does not. Come enjoy meaningful conversation, inspiring messages, and time to reconnect with God and with one another. There’s a place for you at the table.
MEET OUR SPEAKERS:
Candace Boyd Simmons - In her talk, “Finding Joy in every season” Candace discusses different types of joy and how it may find us even though we may not expect it. She is the author of “Joy Yet Resides Here”,which came out in May, 2025. It is a series of prayers and lamentations on life. Candace believes that our joys and our grief must hold hands. She believes good love is balm, and that God is always there for folks who reside in the margins.
Ms. Simmons serves with the Indiana Region of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ as the Ministry Associate and Reconciliation Program Coordinator.
She holds a degree in Organizational Management and NonProfit Leadership from Huntington University. She is currently a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Theological Studies at Christian Theological Seminary and attends Light of the World Christian Church on the west side.
Victoria Odekomaya - Victoria’s message “There’s Purpose for Every Season" examines different seasons i.e what God give you in one season may be for another.
Ms. Odekomaya was born in Nigeria and came to the US in 2001 as a student. While her parents still live in Nigeria. She has a “adopted” US mom and dad. Her adopted dad is a pastor is a rural church just northeast of here.
While working as a scientist involved in drug development. She found that career wasn’t fulfilling so she went back to college and studied film making and digital film production. This lead her to started LiM Studios in her home in Greenfield taking the leap of faith in 2024 to leave her previous career in pharma and concentrate on her own studio focusing including podcasting, photography, seminars, classes, marketing, and coaching. She recently launched her newest creation Boss Ladies Magazine.
